What does "in transit" mean in the Universal Catalog?

I'm looking for a book in the Universal Catalog for a GIL Express request and the status says "in transit." What does that mean? Can I still request it?

Answer

"In Transit" means that the item is on its way to another library.  Most likely, another patron has requested it or it is being returned to its home library after being borrowed by a student at another institution.  You will not be able to request that specific item, but you can request the same title if it is available from another library.
