How do I request an article through Interlibrary Loan?

Answer

Before requesting an article, please:

  1. Check the A-to-Z Journal Locator to make sure that the full-text of the item is not available online or in the library's print collection.

Many articles can be requested from directly within the database.  Within GALILEO, look for the blue “find it” button to determine if the full-text of an article is available from within any GALILEO database or from within the library’s print journal collection.  If the item is not available, click on the link to “Request this item via Interlibrary Loan”, which will transfer you to the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan System.  If you have not done so already, you will need to create an account in the ILLiad system.  Once you have created an account, the citation information for the article will be transferred directly into ILLiad.  Complete any other required fields and submit your request.

For citations not found in a database, interlibrary loan requests can be submitted directly into the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan System.  To expedite orders for copies of journal articles, please provide all of the information requested on the ILL Journal Article Request Form. Delays in ordering the item by the ILL office or delays in processing by supplying libraries can arise from the lack of volume number, page numbers, article title, etc. Providing your source of information can be of help to the ILL staff if the citation is inaccurate and needs to be checked. If you need help interpreting citations from various indices and databases, please ask a reference librarian.
